5fArcticOcean

Mission Completed! Standing on the polar ice cap, at the arctic ocean June 8th, 2001. The ice had just begun to melt a little, and by mid-july will have broken a 20 mile gap between the land and the ice cap to open the northwest passage for ocean-going traffic. The sun had been above the horizon 24hrs since May 16th, and doesn't go back below the horizon until July 28th.
